We have worked with Chuck on several projects, starting from a simple bathroom vanity replacement, to a powder room renovation, to a complete redesign of a primary bath, and recently a major kitchen and office expansion and total renovation. Our home is 75 years old and every project presented Chuck with unanticipated challenges and surprises for us. Nothing was insurmountable for Chuck; his comforting refrain is, “We’ll figure it out,” and he always does. In addition to being extremely knowledgeable and capable of just about everything Chuck takes enormous pride in his work and always has his clients’ best interest in mind. Chuck is fair, trustworthy, and patient. We are already planning our next major project with him.

We first used Talex to redo our finished basement after it suffered water damage from Hurricane Ida in 2021. We found Chuck to be extremely pleasant to work with. He was prompt, professional, friendly and did an excellent job. As a result of that experience we later used Talex to replace our outside deck. Again, we were most pleased with the work done. We would certainly use Talex again and would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Chuck was professional, responsive and did a great job!!

This was our second time hiring Chuck as our general contractor, and once again he did an excellent job. This project involved finishing our basement, which included coordinating the relocation of the boiler, furnace, and ducts, installing an egress window, overseeing plumbing work to support a new full bathroom, leveling the floor to install luxury vinyl flooring, framing and putting up walls for rooms and utility spaces, and setting up heating and cooling. There are many reasons we have enjoyed working with Chuck on projects in our home, but two stand out in particular: First, he is hands-on from start to finish. While he works with skilled and trustworthy subcontractors, he was consistently present and oversaw all the work to make sure it was done well. Over the course of roughly four to five months of nearly daily work, he was present for pretty much all of it and kept things moving in the right direction. Second, he is straightforward and honest in his guidance. If something is difficult, impractical, or simply not worth doing, he will say so. At no point did we feel that he was trying to steer us toward unnecessary work. During our first project several years ago, we considered creating a very large opening on our main floor. Chuck allowed us to explore the idea but gently advised that it might not be worthwhile without having lived in the space yet. In hindsight, he was absolutely right and likely saved us from an expensive decision we would have regretted. During this basement project, we briefly considered installing turf in the basement for the kids to play on. Chuck went out of his way to explore whether it could work and presented options, but he was candid about the logistical challenges. Ultimately we decided against it. He does not make decisions for you, and if we had strongly wanted to pursue either option, he would have found a way to make it happen. In the end, he just wants homeowners to be happy with their completed project. Chuck takes great pride in his work, and his strong attention to detail is evident in our finished basement. He is punctual, respectful, and trustworthy. We highly recommend him without reservation.
